About This Image

Vintage print for the book, Janacek-Hukualdy. Provenance: photographer; artist's assistant Petr Helbich. Signed and titled by Helbich with other numbers and notations in pencil, some in unknown hand, possibly the photographer.Above the town of Hukvaldy is a 150-metre-high hill, upon which stands the largest castle ruins in the Moravian region. The first mention of this building comes from the 13th century. The best-preserved building is St Andrew’s Chapel (kaple sv. Ond?eje), built at the end of the 17th century. The chapel was the only building in the castle that was restored and maintained in the last century. Every year, the grounds of Hukvaldy Castle with the adjoining game reserve become the venue for the Janá?ek's Hukvaldy International Music Festival. The castle is open to the public from April to October. Source: https://www.visitczechrepublic.com/en-US/1d29cb23-f196-4429-af69-92e1135b86c9/place/c-hukvaldy-castle .
