Bassenge Photo Auction in Berlin Scheduled for December 6th Spans Entire History

Bassenge's upcoming autumn-winter photography auction promises an eclectic array of photographic treasures, spanning the rich history of photography from its early inception to the present day. The sale includes pioneering works by renowned figures such as William Henry Fox Talbot, Francis Frith, Felice Beato, Nadar, Eugène Atget, Édouard Baldus, and Ottomar Anschütz.

Moreover, the auction house will showcase modern and contemporary gems by artists, including André Kertesz, Bill Brandt, Herbert List, Andreas Feininger, Harry Callahan, William Eggleston, Richard Misrach, and Robert Mapplethorpe.

Of notable distinction are some exceptional architectural views of China by the eminent German sinologist Ernst Boerschmann, estimated at €15,000, as well as an early life-size photogram crafted by the innovative experimental photographer Floris Neusüss, valued at €9,000. A captivating flower still-life, an exemplar of modernist finesse by Albert Renger-Patzsch, commands an estimate of €7,000, while a beautiful nude study by the late American photographer Francesca Woodman is offered at €8,000.

Furthermore, the sale boasts an extensive selection of works by German postwar photographers, including practitioners such as Evelyn Richter, Sibylle Bergemann, Tata Ronkholz and Michael Schmidt.

Bassenge's aution preview is scheduled from November 27 to December 5, between 10 am and 6 pm CET (except Sundays) at their offices, located at Rankestrasse 24, 10789 Berlin. The sale itself will take place on December 6, beginning at 3 pm CET (9 am EST) in the auction house on Erdener Strasse 5A, 14193 Berlin.
