About This Image

This is a rare photograph of Piazza Navona and the Bernini Fountain flooded with water. Until 1866, when the festival was suppressed, it was flooded on every Saturday and Sunday in August in elaborate celebrations of the Pamphilj family. See: Wendy Watson, Images of Italy: Photography in the Nineteenth Century, (Mount Holyoke College Art Museum), p.24.

Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania buyers must pay appropriate local sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges.
