Signed and dated at the lower right recto of the photograph. Mireille Robaye, a Belgian photographer from the Marcinelle of Charleroi, was well known for her photographs of children in the 30s and 40s. Her studio, which was well regarded in the area, closed in the 1970s due to a lack of a successor. The hands were actually those of a fellow Belge photographer, Raymond Delobbe, according to his granddaughter. She told me: "My grandfather was a photographer in Marcinelle, Belgium. My father has just shared with me the story of Mireille Robaye. She used to visit his home when he was 8 or 9 years old to talk with my grandfather about the art of photography. The hands on the piano are those of my grandfather! My father remembers a copy of this photo being in his home." (The internet can be a magical place of interconnectivity sometimes.)
