Nude with lettering that reads in French: "I bring the life and the death. Signed, titled and dated on recto of thin board mount just below photograph in ink. With Marien's red edition stamp, which is numbered No. 1 of 5 on verso of print. Marien was one of the most important Belgium surrealists and was a friend of Rene Magritte, Picasso and Paul Eluard. He died in 1993. This print was made just before he died for a planned exhibition of his work the next year, which was never completed.
