About This Image

A dramatic view of buildings set against a stormy sky. Print made on Agfa-Brovira with mid to late 1930s logo style. The mediobrome process was Misonne's particular version and adaptation of the bromoil process, which was later used by other pictorialists such as Mortensen. Titled in French and "Mediobrome" lightly written in pencil by the photographer. Written in pencil on the verso, the grandson of Leonard Misonne, "P. (Pierre) Misonne," certifies the image as a work of his grandfather. Provenance: family of Misonne. A long biography on this very important photographer is available.
