Photo credited in black ink: "PHOTO: ALFRED BOCH" at lower right margin on the recto of the mount.Born about 1905 in Germany, Alfred Boch was the VP and general manager for E. Leitz, Inc., New York. He worked closely with photographers, such as Alfred Eisenstaedt in further developing the Leica 35 mm cameras. During WWII Boch and the Leitz firm helped and supported Jewish refugees from Germany to immigrate and assimilate in the US.He was a talented photographer himself, and his work appeared in a MoMA exhibition in 1966. Boch was also a member of the important "Circle of Confusion", which included Konrad Cramer and Manuel Komroff.
