ANDREW SMITH GALLERY RELOCATING TO TUCSON

Andrew Smith Gallery has closed its Santa Fe gallery location after 33 years this past weekend, and will begin the process of relocating to Tucson.

As of October 1, 2018, the new address is: Andrew Smith Gallery, Inc., 439 N. 6th Ave., Suite 179, Tucson, Az. 85701; with the same phone: 1-505-984-1234; and same email: info@andrewsmithgallery.com. The new gallery will have 1,600 sq. ft. of exhibition and work space.

The first exhibition planned for the new gallery will be "Arizona and the West", November 2-December 15, 2018. This survey of classic landscape of the West will focus on photographs of Arizona, including work by Carleton Watkins, Eadweard Muybridge, Timothy O’Sullivan, William Henry Jackson, Adam Clark Vroman, Edward Curtis, Laura Gilpin, Edward Weston, Ansel Adams and contemporary views of the landscape by Native American photographers Victor Masayesva, Jr., Zig Jackson and Larry McNeil.

There will also be a section on photographs of the Native American delegates and peace treaty participants by Alexander Gardner, as well as historic portraits of Indians by Adam Clark Vroman, George Wharton James, Carl Moon, Edwrd Curtis, Laura Gilpin and others. Additionally part of the exhibition will be portraits by leading Native American and Hispanic photographers Zig Jackson, Hulleah Tsinhahjinnie and Miguel Gandert.

Other exhibitions planned for the Winter include Himalayan work c 1899-1901 by Vittoria Sella and a special exhibition of Ansel Adams, featuring the David H. Arrington Collection in February 2019.

DANZIGER APPOINTS LERNER AS PARTNER

Danziger Gallery has appointed Nera Lerner as partner.

"In the five years that Lerner has worked at the gallery, she has become a valued member of the team and a vital point of communication for both artists and clients," according to James Danziger.

"She has made key additions to our program and helped bring our artists’ work into important museums and private collections, as well as running the day-to-day operation of the gallery in conjunction with Gallery Manager, Doyle Bley. CORKIN APPOINTS KNELMAN AS DIRECTOR

Corkin Gallery is pleased to announce that Sara Knelman is the new gallery Director. Knelman has over ten years of international experience in arts management, curatorial practice and post-graduate teaching in the fields of art history, museology and the history of photography. She begins her new role effective immediately.

"I'm delighted to welcome Sara back to the Corkin Gallery team. She is an ideal director and natural leader," said Jane Corkin, the Gallery’s owner and CEO.

Knelman developed and led a program of international exhibitions and projects as the curator of contemporary art at the Art Gallery of Hamilton from 2005-09, and led an active program of talks and events as the talks programmer at The Photographers’ Gallery, London in 2012-13. She has taught at numerous institutions, including the Courtauld, London and Ryerson University's School of Image Arts, Toronto. Knelman has written about contemporary art and photography for publications including Aperture, Frieze, Prefix Photo, Canadian Art, and Source: The Photographic Review.

KOPEIKIN GALLERY LOOKS TO HIRE DIRECTOR

Kopeikin Gallery will be hiring a new "second in command". This is someone whose experience will either mean that they start as the director, or that they will be working toward that goal. This includes curating exhibitions.

Minimum two years of gallery experience necessary, not necessarily in photography. Must be willing to put themselves out into the community to meet artists, collectors and others interested in what the gallery does. The desire to sell or learn to sell is a definite plus. DENNY GALLERY RENAMED DENNY DIMIN GALLERY

Denny Gallery has assumed the name Denny Dimin Gallery.

Elizabeth Denny founded the contemporary art gallery in 2013 at 261 Broome Street on the Lower East Side of New York City. Robert Dimin joined as director and partner in 2015.

Dimin, who received his MFA from the University of Pennsylvania in 2011, has focused on developing the careers of represented artists, relationships with collectors, curators and peers, and social media strategy. He will continue in this role as a named partner of the gallery.
