Piasa Photography Auctions Scheduled For Nov. 10th and 17th

The Paris auction house PIASA has scheduled two photography auctions for the month of November. Both auctions will be held at Drouot Richelieu, 9 rue Drouot, Paris, in the 9th arrondissement.

The November 10th auction will include material in the following areas: nudes, orientalism, fashion, erotism, sports, circus, landscape and animals. While the sale is primarily focused on images, it will have some equipment, including a rare Pathéorama.

The auction can be previewed at Drouot on Thursday, November 9th from 11 am-6 pm and the day of the sale, Friday, November 10th from 11 am-noon. The auction itself begins at 2 pm.

The Friday, November 17th sale will start at 1:30 pm in Salle (room) 4 of Drouot Richelieu. It can be previewed on Thursday, November 15th from 11 am-6 pm and the day of the sale from 11 am-noon. Nineteenth-century photographs from the collection of an Alsatian industrialist will be among those featured in this auction, including rare early works by Adolphe Bilordeaux, Edouard Baldus and Hippolyte Bayard. Other photos from the collection include a group of vintage prints by Eugène Atget, nudes by Baron Von Gloeden and Guglielmmo Von Pluschow and vintage prints by Pierre Dubreuil from his Pictorial period.

Two masterworks of Rudolf Koppitz, images by Raoul Haussman from the estate of his partner Marthe Prevot, two prints by Raoul Ubac, a Brassai from his Surrealist period and work by Roger Parry will all be included in the 20th-century part of the auction.

The collection of Marc Bruhat, who used to print works for Edouard Boubat, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Helmut Newton and others will also be featured.

Finally, other 20th-century and contemporary photographers will also be well represented, including Alfons Alt, Thierry Arditti, Peter Beard, Christian Courregès, Elliott Erwitt, Luigi Ghirri, Eikoh Hosoe, Robert Mapplethorpe, Sarah Moon, Kathleen Naundorf, Bettina Rheims, Thomas Ruff, Jan Saudek, David Seidner, Cindy Sherman, Thomas Struth, Josef Sudek, Deborah Turbeville and Joel-Peter Witkin.
