About This ImageA very fine print for Le Secq, whose images are usually found very faded. It is signed, titled and dated in the negative at bottom left. Title written in pencil on verso. The image is one of the groups of statuary at the left of the Cathedral entrance. It depicts Saint Ache holding his head, the angel Thuriferaire, and possibly Saint Honore. Two other prints and the paper negative are in the collection of the French Bibliotheque des Arts Decorative, which houses the largest and most comprehensive collection of Le Secq's work; one other is in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. No other prints have been located. See: Janis and Sartre, Henri Le Secq, Photographe de 1850 a 1860, pl.216. Provenance: probably from the collection of an art history professor; Porta Portese's antique market in Rome; an Italian conservationist. Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania buyers must pay appropriate local sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges. ![]() |
