In 1911 and 1928 the company name was changed, so this image is likely to be made prior to that date. In "A. Lumiere & Ses Fils" cardboard passe-partout with R. Dechavannes, Paris, Depose (registration mark for the passe-partout itself). The pass-partout is 8 x 6-3/8 inches. The Lumiere studio often used these passe-partouts for their work, although not exclusively.See: Alex Novak, For the Love of the Image: A Selection of 110 Photographs, p.35, pl.35.
